Day/Theme: August 10th / Quick at your word, all skill, grace,
He is, but for death his passion, flawless.
Rating: at least in the PG-13 region
Akiha is not all he seems.
The quickest place between two places is a straight line. Akiha takes the curving extra road, often dirt and leading up a steep incline. It’ll take hours more, but it’s always worth it.
“There is a story behind every road,” he says. And there’s always a wealth of stories in each photograph, and Akiha always waves his hands about as he explains each detail to anybody who will listen.
There is a skill to finding a perfect shot, seeking out something, someone unposed with emotions naked on their face. He usually works with posed, poised models – little by little he will expose them, learning each trick to make them slowly unpeel the mask across their face.
But a part of him will always long for all the mystery his shutter can capture. To evoke and to provoke, to ensnare the viewer without even realizing it. Something enough to make the next person think “what made this person smile?”
The quickest place between two places is a straight line. Akiha made it a curve and enjoyed every taking every mine as slow as possible, winding up mountain paths and through crowded cities, wherever life might take him.
